Houseguest: Mallory McInnis

Ding dong... I'm so happy to have Mallory over today and I have to say that I absolutely love love love her post! Thank you so much for sharing your refreshing finds with us!

Clairvoyant Crafters
Hello, hello! This is Mallory from Where the Lovely Things Are and I am ever-so-excited to be here today - thanks Marichelle!

I've always "heart-ed" handmade... ever since I was a little girl. My mom was (is!) a crafty lady and I spent my childhood bopping around with her to dozens of craft shows, during which I'd spend the day strolling around and developing my love of all things art & craft; all things creative.

When Marichelle asked me if I'd like to do a post, my answer was an immediate "yes!" & then my mind started whirling and whirring as it attempted to decide what sort of handmade goods I'd focus on... It didn't take me very long to figure out that I wanted to feature Clairvoyant Crafters.

Yes, you read right. The people who created these wonderful items can seeeee the futureeeee (said in a creepy voice). Ok, ok....maybe they don't know who's going to win American Idol or if it's going to rain this Sunday, but they can look at an object - an ordinary & everyday object you'd find around the house or grocery store - and see what it can become; they can see the object's future.

Alyssa Zygmunt (BROOKLYNrehab) can look at a mushroom and see it cast in porcelain; Jennifer Maestre envisions sea urchins when she looks at a bunch of pencils; and when Leah Mackin sees a shelf of books.... her "clairvoyant" talents allow her to see that they'll eventually become bracelets.

I don't think that the ability to actually see the future would be such a good thing... but the ability to look at a teacup and see that it can (and will!) become some hanging lights? That's a pretty awesome ability indeed.

Mallory McInnis.
I'm a 23 year old figuring out exactly what I want to do with my life... for now I'm getting crafty with pre-schoolers. I love nothing more than a good book & if you stacked every one I've read atop each other, I'm sure you'd get a skyscraper or two. I'm also on a never-ending quest for loveliness (which you'll discover if you check out my beloved blog Where the Lovely Things Are).
